Flying Forward — Healthy, Wealthy, and Wise, while looking through History Celebrating and Honoring African American Veterans. Join the Robert Basker Post 315 of the American Legion, Veterans for Peace Chapter 69, San Francisco Bay Area Veterans, and the Veterans Community Media Center for Sankofa Sunday.
On Sunday, February 16, 2013, 5-9 pm, at the Veterans Community Media Center in San Francisco, a delightful reception, a movie screening, fabulous guests, Ardist Cooper author of “Every Tub Sits on its own Bottom,” Aundray Rogers president of City College of San Francisco Resource Center, scholars, and panel discussion. The reception included a delicious Mardi Gras theme dinner (Jambalaya, rice, greens, mixed green salad, mixed melons salads, cornbread, dinner roll, drinks, water, and delightful deserts), a raffle and an awards ceremony honoring those who have worked diligently in the community.
The Sankofa bird symbolizes one taking from the past what is good and bringingit into the present in order to make positive progress through the benevolent use of knowledge.
