Aqueila Lewis, poet

Bay Area Native, Aqueila M. Lewis has been writing poetry since she was in high school. As a multi-talented artist, she explored everything advancing her hobbies and skills, some include: composing, dancing, singing, modeling, poet/spoken word artist, journalist (print and radio) and more. Lewis has over ten years experience as a journalist providing local and national media and promotions coverage.
For nine years, Lewis has volunteered and serves as Entertainment Chair for the annual Empowering Women of Color Conference (EWOCC) at UC Berkeley. Lewis is one of the creators of Artist Fusion Friday, a monthly informational, community-building network, showcase and collective art gallery where talented artists fuse, share their work, and ideas with other art lovers. Lewis is a graduate of Napa Valley College, UC. Berkeley and is a recent graduate of 94.1 FM KPFA Radio’s First Voice Media Apprenticeship Program. Most recently, Lewis’ work has been published in two anthologies: Sistah’s With Ink Voices and Walking in the Feminine. And she is currently creating children’s books focused on issues in relation to social justice and community.
